Abstract

|
Blepharoptosis is a condition commonly dealt with in the field of plastic surgery, and it not only gives a disagreeable external appearance and impression but also brings much emotional pain and trauma to the patient.
According to the latest reports and studies, the various corrective surgical methods that has been in use in the past few years have not given much favorable or satisfactory results especially in the treatment of severe blepharoptosis.
Recontly at our Department of Plastic Surgery of Yonsei University College of Medicine, we have attempted frontalis muscle transfer method in severe cases of blepharoptosis in which there were severe weakening of the levator muscle function and for which no other currently available methods gave satisfactory results.
We are reporting on our corrective method, follow up results and problems with the review of current related articles.
